Prerequisites

There are two overarching prerequisites for this course. The first is that you have a basic knowledge of cybersecurity and cybersecurity controls. In other words, you’ll know what the goals of cybersecurity are, what cybersecurity controls are, and when and where a control might be applied--security controls meaning specific controls such as:

• Firewalls
• Encryption
• Identity and Access Management
• Data Loss Prevention

The second prerequisite is having a basic understanding of the organizational structure and how businesses operate. Governance, Risk, and Compliance professionals frequently need to navigate the organization and weigh business objectives against the need for certain security controls to reach an answer that works for the company.
